Taking inspiration from the world around them, Ben and Kate can literally write and perform their music anywhere. Their original soulful sound is captivating audiences across Australia and beyond. And their catchy lyrics are echoing in people's hearts and minds.
This young coastal Victorian duo share dreams, hope, love and connection through their music. With Kate’s warm angelic voice and Ben’s rhythmic and passionate artistry on guitar they love playing to audiences who enjoy their poetic sound and life rich lyrics.
Their first single, Meant to Be’ was released 2018. An upbeat, fun tune, inspired by young love and Summer beach night. They were delighted it received airplay on radio stations Australia wide and took home ‘APRA AMCOS New Songwriter of the Year’ from the Tamworth Songwriters Association(TSA) 2019.
Ben and Kate first joined as a duo in January 2018. They started performing cover songs from a variety of modern country musicians and pop artists and began performing in their local area.
They started writing their original songs in March 2018 and at short notice decided to jump on a plane and fly to Nashville to visit music city and experience what it was like to be in the Country Music capital of the world.
Inspired by their surroundings they wrote original material whilst abroad and came home to Australia with aims to create a larger fan base and give music all the energy and focus they have.
They got straight into writing, planning, recording, producing and mastering four tracks for their EP ‘HELLO WORLD’ released January 12th 2019 debuting at No.5 on the iTunes Country Music Charts and No.75 on the iTunes Music Charts all genres. This release is the duo’s first larger project which they have created completely on their own and describe as being their ‘hello to the world’, their introduction with a bang to the Country Music Industry. Already receiving radio airplay, this EP is their proudest work yet.
They have recently finished their music video filming for ‘Meant to Be’ where they directed the entire project and creatively asked people they new to play the roles and tell the story of ‘Meant to Be’.
After entering their release into the Golden Guitar categories APRA AMCOS Song of the Year, QANTASLINK New Talent of the Year and Single of the Year they travelled to Sydney for the official announcement of the Toyota Golden Guitar Awards Finalists and the launch of the 2019 Toyota Country Music Festival, Tamworth.
It was this event they got to meet and talk with some of the big names and up and coming artists in Australian Country Music such as Lee Kernaghan, Troy Cassar-Daley, Adam Brand, Adam Harvey, Imogen Clark and Brad Cox.
April 25 2019 saw them release their single second ‘My Soldier’ debuting at #10 on the iTunes Country Music Charts. They donated funds to the Australian War Memorial and The Legacy in respect of ANZAC DAY with every pre-order.
Having opened for Shannon Noll, headlined the Sounds of Summer Festival in Inverloch, Victoria on December 29th 2018 and returning from Tamworth Country Music Festival 2019, they have their sights set on creating more music for the world to hear.
This was their first appearance performing at the TCMF in 2019 taking home the title for ‘APRA AMCOS New Songwriter of the Year’ from the Tamworth Songwriters Association.
Their song ‘Walk Away’ was a semi-finalist in the ‘Lyric Writer Award’ for 2019.
With their signature easy listening style and drive to pursue their dreams, there is nothing stopping them.
With lyrics like ‘Life has dealt me some hard times but I’m thankful for every road I’ve travelled down’ - Souly Us is well worth a listen.
